About Me
Alex Root, Founder of RootCrest, is an experienced operator looking to acquire a single business. He is committed to preserving the vision of the business owner by expanding their legacy. Through acquisition, management, and growth, RootCrest ensures that the established business continues to thrive and reflect the founders' original aspirations.
Prior to founding RootCrest, Alex was the SVP | General Manager International at Stance Inc., where he led growth and development strategies and served on the executive leadership team. At Stance, working directly alongside founder and CEO John Wilson, Alex was pivotal in evolving the brand from its entrepreneurial beginnings to a formidable force over his 10 year tenure. He drove a significant portion of total revenue, leading to Stance's growth to over $120 million. His direct involvement and strategic acumen led to the development of a robust wholesale and distributor network, spanning 60 countries, and significant direct-to-consumer expansion through eCommerce platforms and flagship stores across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Alex’s previous role at Volcom Inc., a renowned brand with a compelling growth trajectory, included a pivotal period marked by the company's successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2005, which achieved a market value totaling $625M. Serving on the Executive Committee during his 13 year tenure, Alex drove initiatives that expanded Volcom's footprint across six continents. His leadership in implementing strategic growth and development strategies directly contributed to Volcom’s revenue surpassing $300M. These experiences have cultivated Alex’s expertise in business development, revenue channels, marketing, and operational excellence on a global scale.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending most of his free time with his wife, two children, and his Bernadoodle. Alex frequents outdoor hobbies like surfing, golfing, or exploring the mountains.
Alex holds a B.S. in Economics from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business. He is a Vistage CEO Advisory group member.
